Once Upon A Time in Petaouchnok
Once upon a time in Petaouchnok (2008) is situated on the boundary between documentary and fiction. In this performance Nada Gambier presents a group of people attempting to survive in an environment that is essentially incomplete. Life in Petaouchnok is anything but spectacular. Once upon a time in Petaouchnok is the story of ordinary people, their fear, their humor, their hate and apparent indifference. It is the silent revolution of people on the border of disappearance.
The performers come from a variety of professions and life experiences and are a combination of volunteers that Nada worked with during the creation process.
Gambier’s performances are often raw testimonies to that which we prefer not to see. Fortunately we get to laugh too.
